Carpooling in Île-de-France is evolving!

To carpool in Île-de-France, you must use the official Île-de-France Mobilités app: Covoit IDFM. Here you will find all the answers to your questions about transferring your Karos account to the Covoit IDFM app.

Why do I need to change apps? What is the IDFM Carpooling app?

IDFM Carpooling is the new application from the Île-de-France Mobilités carpooling service for your daily journeys in the Île-de-France region. Everything you appreciate about carpooling (your usual journeys, your sharing habits and your friendly connections with other users) remains exactly the same as before.

This makes it possible to offer an official and unique service in Île-de-France with specific advantages and better integration with transport services in the Île-de-France region.

Here, we're talking about the daily carpooling service planned via the Covoit IDFM app, not the carpooling routes offered on another app . This single app will bring together all carpoolers in the Île-de-France region, making journeys easier!

What will happen to my Karos account?

If you transfer your account to the IDFM Carpooling app, your account will be securely transferred to the new app. After the transfer, your Karos account will no longer be accessible.

To transfer your Karos account to the IDFM Carpooling app, everything happens directly in the Karos app.

You retain:

• your personal information (phone number, carpooling history, conversations with support, personal documents, profile, email address, trip preferences)
• your carpooling history , your favorite carpoolers, your chat history
• and, if applicable, your winnings (they will be transferred to your account before the transfer)

👉 You just have to follow the instructions in the Karos application.

Do I need to download Covoit IDFM before transferring my account?

No, you should not download Covoit IDFM before starting the account transfer process from the Karos application.

During the transfer of your account, Karos will tell you when to download the Covoit IDFM application.

Why follow the steps in the Karos app?

Following the steps in Karos guarantees the correct transfer of your data and history to the Covoit IDFM application, and the best management for your savings.

How do I transfer my Karos account to Covoit IDFM?

First, check that your Karos app is up to date.

The transfer is done in a few simple steps from your Karos app :

• Open Karos and accept the transfer to the Covoit IDFM app by clicking on the “Transfer my account” button.

If you use “Île-de-France Mobilités Connect” to log in to Karos:

• Confirm the data transfer from Karos to the IDFM Carpooling app
• Download the IDFM Carpooling app
• To log in, click on “I already have an account”
• Use the “Île-de-France Mobilités Connect” button

If you use other credentials to log in to Karos:

• Karos will ask you to confirm your login details.
• Confirm the data transfer from Karos to the IDFM Carpooling app
• Download the IDFM Carpooling app
• To log in, click on “I already have an account”
• Use the “Log in with my email address” button and log in with the same credentials you have set up in Karos.

In all cases, you will receive a confirmation email once the transfer is complete and effective.

Do I need to create a new account on the IDFM Carpooling app?

No. You do not need to create a new account .

Once the account transfer is complete, your login details and information will be automatically recognized on the Covoit IDFM application .

You will simply need to log back in with the identification method defined during the account transfer process (see above, the transfer steps).

What happens to my already planned trips?

If you had any trips planned at the time of the account transfer, they may be automatically cancelled, but you will be able to reschedule them in the new application as usual.

What happens to my Karos benefits (promo codes, cashback balances) after the transfer?

Here's what you need to know:

• Promo codes : Unused Karos promo codes will not be transferred to the IDFM Carpooling app. Make sure you use them in Karos before starting your migration.

• Savings and wallet : your balance will be transferred during the migration, so you will not lose your earnings. Your data will be transferred from one account to the other, and we will guide you step by step to enjoy your new account with peace of mind.

If one of my favorite carpoolers is still on Karos and I'm on the Covoit IDFM app, can we carpool together?

You won't be able to plan a carpool using both apps. In the chat, you'll see a message indicating that the person is still using Karos. You can then invite them to transfer their account to the IDFM Carpooling app.

To make things run more smoothly, feel free to spread the word. This will help you find your usual carpool partners more easily.

I carpool in Île-de-France and outside of it, what should I do?

To choose the best option between Karos and the IDFM carpooling app, simply look at where you make the majority of your journeys.

If your main journeys are in the Île-de-France region : it is recommended that you transfer your Karos account to the Covoit IDFM app. This way, you will keep your history and carpooling habits. You can always create a new Karos account if needed for occasional trips outside the region.

If your main journeys are outside Île-de-France : it is preferable to keep your Karos account and create an account on the Covoit IDFM application only for your journeys in Île-de-France.

What if I no longer have the Karos app?

If you deleted Karos more than 18 months ago , your account is probably no longer active.

You will then be able to directly create a new account on the Covoit IDFM application to benefit from the service.

What should I do if I encounter a problem during the transfer?

No worries! Dedicated support is available via email or directly in the app to help you:

• finalize the transfer
• recover your data
• check the status of your prize pool

Will my personal data remain protected?

Yes. Your data remains strictly confidential and secure .

They are transferred under the responsibility of Île-de-France Mobilités, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Karos remains a data processor on behalf of the Covoit IDFM application.

What happens if I don't transfer my account?

Without a transfer, you will no longer be able to benefit from the advantages of Île-de-France Mobilités from January 1, 2026.

We therefore recommend that you finalize your transfer before this date so as not to lose anything.

What are the differences between Karos and the IDFM carpooling app?

The main features remain the same:

• planning and booking of home-to-work journeys
• integrated and secure payment
• quick connection between drivers and passengers

By using the Covoit IDFM app, you will have access to subsidies for passengers and drivers. These subsidies will only be available in the Covoit IDFM app from January 1, 2026.

I've heard about the Covoit Lignes app. What are the differences between it and the Covoit IDFM app?

The IDFM Carpooling Lines app is Île-de-France Mobilités' carpooling service based on defined routes. These routes have designated stops where you can meet up with your carpool partner. Currently, there are 3 carpooling routes on the Saclay Plateau.

The IDFM Carpooling app lets you find available carpoolers along your usual route and schedule your ride in advance or at the last minute. These carpools aren't limited to specific bus lines but can be arranged anywhere in the Île-de-France region.
