Alfred Sandner
Transport connectivity at the GENDORF Chemical Park has long been an important issue for our site. With Karos (formerly goFLUX), we were able to create an accessible and flexible mobility solution for everyone working at the chemical park. We see the app as a valuable complement to public transport: it is even more flexible than a bus route, as colleagues travel the same commuting routes at many different times. That is why we can also recommend the solution to other companies in the region.

Our main goal was to give employees and apprentices from rural areas a reliable way to reach the chemical park. At the same time, we learned that a good mobility offer alone is not enough: personal engagement, on-site activations and continuous communication with employees are key.

When 8 employers shape mobility together at one site

Karos transforms everyday commuting into a structured and scalable mobility system by coordinating real-world carpooling through digital technology.
Accessibility without owning a car

Bringing young talent reliably to the site

Since the introduction of carpooling with Karos, apprentices have had a reliable alternative: cancellations due to a lack of mobility are now a thing of the past.
Reducing mobility costs

Saving fixed costs for dedicated shuttles

Karos uses existing commuting routes and free seats without a dedicated vehicle fleet or costly shuttle lines. A scalable model for rural sites.
Increasing employer attractiveness

Recognition for sustainable mobility

Gendorf was selected from 20 entries in the “Shaping Commutes” competition and featured as a best-practice example by Bayerischer Rundfunk and other media outlets.

Targeting corporate mobility as a joint operation

The Chemical Park Gendorf lacked reliable access for employees and apprentices without their own car. Previous shuttle buses had been discontinued for cost reasons, and rebuilding the system was not an option. This was especially critical for apprentices, who withdrew their acceptances because they could not reliably reach the site.

‍

In September 2024, Karos launched a carpooling offer for eight employers at the site together with Infraserv GmbH as coordination partner. With a targeted promotional campaign, ongoing incentives through canteen vouchers, and joint public relations work, the project grew quickly. After around 22 months, it has recorded 18,600 shared rides, 420,000 kilometers travelled together, and 50 tons of CO₂ emissions saved. Apprentices can now reliably find a ride without the site having to carry high ongoing fixed costs.
